KOA Corporation Announces a New Global Part Numbering System

December 17, 2001

In a continual effort to support our customer base on a global environment, KOA Corporation is adopting a new global part numbering system. KOA Corporation currently has three different part numbering systems globally:

  • One system in Japan/Asia - KOA Japan
  • 2nd system in Europe - KOA Europe
  • 3rd system in North and South America - KOA Speer Electronics

The global electronics marketplace, specific requests from our customer base, and KOA's implementation of a global computer and ERP system has directed this change to a global part numbering system.

Since many customers use lead-free (Pb) products, the new global part numbering system contains a termination code for the solder finish selection.

Below is an example of the three different part numbering systems along with the new global part numbering system. This is the same part; the only difference is the geographical part number.

Part Description: 1206,thick film,chip resistor, 1%, 100ppm/C, 10KW, 7" paper tape and reel

The schedule for the new global part number change is as follows:

  • April 2002 through June 2002 - Start implementing the new global part number with customer base
  • July 1, 2002 - 100% changeover to new global part number system

Some of KOA's customers require the KOA part number to be shown on the customer specific barcode. In an effort to make the part number change as smooth as possible, KOA will dual label the KOA part number on the customer specific, as required and feasible.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact your local KOA Sales Representative, any other KOA contact or directly email Dena Johnston at djohnston@koaspeer.com. KOA will also continually post new information at www.koaspeer.com.
